144-hour Visa-Exemption Transit Policy

Citizens from countries which are listed in the 144-hour Visa-Exemption Transit Policy can transfer in China via any of the following ports of entry including Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport, Wutong Port, or Xiamen International Cruise Terminal without Chinese visas by supplying their own valid international travel documents and onward flight/vessel/train tickets to a third country (region) with confirmed date and seat within 144 hours upon their arrival. After having successfully applied for 144-hour visa-exemption transit at one of the above-listed ports of entry, transit passengers are allowed to stay within the restricted administration precinct of Xiamen City only.

Citizens from the following countries can apply for 144-hour visa-exemption transit. These countries are: Albania, Argentina, Austria, Australia, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Brazil, Brunei, Bulgaria, Canada, Chile, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxemburg, Macedonia, Malta, Mexico, Montenegro, Netherlands, New Zealand, Poland, Portugal, Qatar, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia ,South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, The principality of Monaco, The republic of Belarus, United Arab Emirates, Ukraine, United Kingdom, United States of America.

 

144 hours transit visa-free personnel stay in xiamen reminder

Temporary entry foreigners are not allowed to overstay the time limit and area remarked on the temporary entry permit。Violators should be subject to penalty for illegal stay.

Residence registrations are compulsory. Those who do not stay in hotels shall, within 24 hours upon arrival, go through residence registration formalities with the public security organs in the places of residence. A warning shall be given, and a fine of not more than RMB 2,000 yuan may also be imposed on violators according to relevant law and regulation of China.

 

AVIATION

Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport has become an important regional aviation hub in southeast coast of China. It has two terminal buildings, T3 and T4, and has formed the aviation network covering all major cities in the mainland and Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan (Taipei, Kaohsiung, Taichung), and connecting Southeast Asia (Manila, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Ho Chi Minh City, Bangkok, Siem Reap, Jakarta, Bali, Angkor), Northeast Asia (Seoul, Cheju, Tokyo, Osaka, Cebu) and linking three continents including Europe (Amsterdam), America (Vancouver, Seattle) and Australia (Sydney, Melbourne). At present, Xiamen Airport has been open to the air traffic to 109 cities with 83 domestic cities, 20 foreign cities and 6 regions; 182 domestic and overseas air routes with 145 domestic air routes and 37 overseas and regional air routes; 40 airlines with 25 domestic airlines and 15 overseas airlines.

Transportation: Xiamen Airport has convenient traffic. In addition to bus and taxi, it has several airport express lines to and fro the Ferry Pier, Xiamen North Railway Station, Wutong Pier, Dongdu Pier, Wucun Bus Station, Zeng Cuo'an, Zhangzhou and Haicang. Waiting place: T3 Terminal Building: waiting room of airport express line (80 meters to the west side of No.7 Gate on the domestic arrival level); T4 Terminal Building: waiting place of airport express line (on the opposite of No.5 Gate on the domestic arrival level). Gulangyu covers an area of 1.87 square kilometers, and has famous tourist attractions like Sunlight Rock, Shuzhuang Garden and Harmonium Museum. Here you may stroll to a quiet lane, or take a sunbath on the beach; there are Chinese and western architectures of various features, and natural scenery that will make poets and literary men want to compose poems and prose. What's more, there are authentic traditional snacks of Xiamen style for you to taste and artistic novelty boutiques for you to visit.

Transportation:

1. The real-name system has been adopted. Local residents and tourists go to Gulangyu separately: 

① Local residents: Ferry Pier (Hall 1) ←→ Piano Pier

The First Pier / Haicang Songyu Pier ←→ Neicuo'ao Pier

Round-trip fare: RMB 8 Yuan;

② Tourists:

A. In the daytime (7:10- 17:30)

Dongdu Cruise Pier ←→ Sanqiutian Pier / Neicuo'ao Pier: ferries depart every 20 minutes. The round- trip fare to Sanqiutian Pier is RMB 35 Yuan, and the round- trip fare to Neicuo'ao Pier is RMB 35 Yuan (for ordinary ferry) or RMB 50 Yuan (for luxury ferry).

B. At the nighttime (17:50- 6:30):

Ferry Pier (Hall 2) ←→ Sanqiutian Pier

There is only one round- trip route at Haicang Songyu Pier:

Haicang Songyu Pier ←→ Neicuo'ao Pier: ferries depart at half 

past each hour and ten to each hour, with the first ferry at 7:30 and the last ferry at 17:50 (in winter) or 18:50 (in summer). The 

round- trip fare is RMB 30 Yuan.

2. Every ferry ticket is a round- trip ticket, and will remain effective for 20 days (time of ferry is unrestricted).

Between 15:00 and 18:30, it is the rush hour for departing Gulangyu. There might be long lines for ticket checking and 

long waiting time for the ferry. Passengers are advised to make proper travel plan in advance. 

3. How to buy ferry tickets: 

① At the official website or WeChat account: tourists can book ferry tickets at the only official website (http://www.xmferry. com) and WeChat account (Xiamen Ferry Co., Ltd.) 15 days in advance, and then go to the corresponding pier on time and 

swipe the identification card to pass the ticket gate. 

② At piers: tourists can also temporarily go to piers to buy the ferry ticket of that day. For tour groups, it is advisable to book ferry tickets at the website in advance, in case there might be no ferry tickets left when tourists arrive at piers.
